Born in Paris in 1949.
Jean-Christophe Bailly is the author of some thirty works, including many different genres, excepting the novel: tales, poetry, theatre and especially essays, not to mention numerous prefaces and articles in reviews.
After working for a long time in publishing (he still runs a collection at Bourgois) he taught from 1997 until 2015 at the Blois National School of Nature and Landscape.
He also teaches at the Arles National Superior School of Photography.
Among his books appeared recently : Le Versant animal (Bayard, 2007), L’Atelier infini (Hazan, 2007), L’instant et son ombre (Seuil, 2008), Le Dépaysement (Seuil, 2011), La Phrase urbaine (Seuil , 2013) et L’Élargissement du poème (Bourgois, 2015) as well as a book of interwiews (with Ph. Roux) entitled Passer définir connecter infinir (Argol, 2014).
