Following many different training courses, Matthieu Barbin has influenced the work of Jean-Claude Gallotta, the duo Gerard and Kelly, Boris Charmatz, The UPSBD, etc.

Invited by Hortense Archambault and Vincent Baudrier, he participated in the KADMOS research group at the Avignon Festival in 2013.

He then worked with choreographer Boris Charmatz, performing different pieces such as Levée des conflits or Enfant, as well as on the creation of the performance Manger, in 2014. He also participated in the two artist’s retrospectives; at New York’s MoMA, Three collective gestures, and at the TATE Modern in London If TATE Modern was Musée de la Danse.

In 2016, Matthieu was invited by Lafayette Anticipation to create a visual object, CAVERN shaped by the vocabulary of dance, film and architecture, in collaboration with Alix Eynaudi and Louise Hémon.

At the beginning of 2017, he created his first piece, in partnership with SMITH, entitled TRAUM (Le paradoxe de V.). Using multiple nested writing concepts, the performance treats science fiction as an object, exploring the expansion of time, access to different layers of consciousness, and the phenomena of imminent death, disaster and entanglement.
