Born in 1979 in Casablanca, Hamid El Kabouss began his career at a very tender age as an acrobat. In 1997, he moved towards hip-hop, which he practiced in a competitive environment. In order to broaden his experience and means of expression, he attended Véronique Honegger’s School of Contemporary Dance in 2000. In 2002, he co-founded Compagnie Salama, which went on to be a success both nationally and internationally until 2006.

His thirst for learning and discovery led him to leave his native Casablanca and to set off to discover other artistic horizons in Montpellier, France.

Prize-winner in the free-style category in 2007 in Montpellier, twice in the Break-Dance competition in Marseille and Montpellier in 2008, two time first prize-winner in House-Dance in 2009 and 2011 in Marseille and Casablanca, Hamid El Kabouss founded his own company MIMH in 2009.

With much experience and his own Hip-Hop technique under his belt, he then set off to explore other territories on the edge of contemporary dance; his work has always centred on the artistic and human components and on community life.

Noticed and invited in 2010 by Montpellier Danse, he created Sauce, the first part of a triptych - Sauce, Hachia, Va, vis et deviens - drawing inspiration from his own personal journey and feelings, particularly as a “migrant”, and exploring a vision of society with its prejudices and thresholds, which either integrate or reject those within.
