— Qui va là ? N°2
Curated by Christian Rizzo, in dialogue with Emmanuel Latreille
On the 40th anniversary of the Fonds régional d'art contemporain Occitanie Montpellier, ICI—CCN has invited the FRAC to take over La chambre d'écho. Among the 1,300 works in the 'collection', which includes sculptures, paintings, photographs, drawings and videos, Christian Rizzo has made a selection guided by his personal vision as a choreographer and visual artist.
From 13 January to 20 April 2023, pieces by Matthew Antezzo, Laurette Atrux-Tallau, Denis Castellas, Claude Cattelain, Tom Friedman, Rolf Julius, Philippe Ramette, Sigurdur Arni Sigurdsson and Andreas Slominski will offer a meditation on the absence that influences bodies. The choice of pieces and their relationship in space creates a gesture, a suspended dynamic of choreography. A form of narrative appears where one guesses that the body is expected, that its presence has faded away. The organic, the living is manifested in its disappearance. Actions seem to have just happened, or are about to happen. Like a constellation of traces to be activated by the gaze.
