Artistic statement
« The main impetus in this project is my desire to bring together Julie Guibert and Kerem Gelebek, iconic performers in my works. A tribute to darkness, drawing from the vast repertoire of “ballroom dancing”, ad noctum is part of a choreographic quest aiming at restoring visibility to patterns derived from folk dance, sometimes unknown – a writing project on the fringe of overabundance and at the centre of the invisible, between whirling cycles, nervous bursts and restraints being close to fainting.
Next to them, a totem/monolith combining light, sound and images, will join in as a third protagonist with a language of its own, and acting as an amplified sound box with the dance relations.
This piece, a tribute to the darkness, is once again an opportunity to release a landscape score where the cinematic music of Nicolas Devos and Pénélope Michel converges with the luminous vibrations of Caty Olive and the images of Iuan-Hau Chiang and Sophie Laly. »
