Les approches écocritiques se proposent d’aborder les œuvres et les pratiques artistiques en les mettant en regard des réalités et des pensées – scientifiques, philosophiques, politiques – de l’écologie. D’un côté, il s’agit de voir en quoi les discours, les savoirs, les exigences et les menaces écologiques impactent ou résonnent dans le champ artistique (que ce soit sur le plan du propos, des formes, des modes de conception et de diffusion…). De l’autre, il s’agit de réfléchir à l’apport spécifique des arts vis-à-vis de ce contexte : dans quelle mesure et de quelles façons contribuent-ils à ébranler ou remodeler nos représentations, à activer nos imaginations, et ce faisant, à réévaluer nos manières de voir, de faire, de penser ?
Tout en étant guidés par les mêmes questionnements, les travaux en écocritique affective se proposent quant à eux d’analyser les œuvres du point de vue des émotions qu’elles mettent en jeu, qu’elles représentent ou qu’elles produisent.
Alors que l’écocritique :
réfléchit, dans l’absolu, aux modalités selon lesquelles les mondes non-humains sont pris en compte, représentés et mis en jeu par les artistes ;
s’attache à la façon dont les œuvres critiquent, renforcent ou déjouent les rapports d’exploitation, de minoration ou de dé-légitimation dont ces mondes peuvent être l’objet ;
analyse les perspectives, éthiques et politiques, que ces gestes artistiques engagent :
… l’écocritique dite « affective » resserre le champ de l’investigation et se propose de :
qualifier le type de relations affectives que les œuvres suscitent vis-à-vis des êtres et des mondes non-humains qu’elles mettent en jeu ;
étudier les procédés (narratifs, rhétoriques, scénographiques, kinesthésiques…) par lesquels sont créés des effets d’empathie, de sympathie ou d’antipathie ;
interroger les implications (éthiques et politiques) que ces processus émotionnels peuvent avoir.
Dans le cadre de la « classe ouverte », il s’agira de déplier les questionnements, les intérêts et les limites propres à l’écocritique en général, et à l’écocritique affective en particulier.

" During the workshop, we will study movement patterns, as well as temporal, rhythmic, and spatial choices, questioning what drives us physically and energetically. Why do we dance? What changes occur in my body when I move? Through these questions, we will explore the transformations and changes in the structure and shape of the body when we experience dance.
The focus will be on the body, contemporary movement forms, and other popular Brazilian manifestations. Additionally, we will pay attention to individual and collective interaction.
The idea is for us to connect through games, carnival steps, and energetic exchanges, with the goal of embracing risk, discovering the joy of vulnerability and following new and unexpected paths. "

Artist’s statement
Departing from a thorough research into the prerequesites of movement from a geological and ecological perspective, my work seeks to articulate environments where bodies, objects and things coincide into place. Between evanescence and permanence, I explore textures, volumes and vibrations through dancing, writing, drawing and stonecarving in order to create new imaginaries. Where push meets pull, movement as transformation - with its temporality and inner logics intact -expands into an energetically driven mass, opening up towards a poetic of coexistance, an other and elsewhere.

Revolted by white society's view of black bodies, Elie Autin revives the striking force of the Furies by combining it with the magnetic power of the Bacchae. From being perched on the heights, a creature is forced to leave its peaceful surroundings. Its cries, laughter and songs act as an outlet for the violence it is subject to. And yet, through this protean dance, the body is transformed. From the crossing of stereotypes to the expression of fury: a chimera is born.

"J’aimerais partager avec vous certaines connaissances sur les tissus fascias. Ces derniers ont longtemps été considérés comme inutiles ou des entraves à l’observation des organes, découpés lors des dissections puis jetés à la poubelle. Nous sommes au début des découvertes médicales les concernant, et je pense que leur étude incarnée pourrait être un chemin pour ouvrir nos imaginaires sur nos corps tout d’abord, et aussi sur l’environnement qui nous entoure.
Chaque matinée sera l’occasion d’explorer une de leur propriété à partir de livres d’anatomie, jusqu’à nous mettre en mouvement. Nous les activerons grâce aux mouvements provoqués par le toucher, les étirements ou l’imaginaire. "

Deep Cuts is a solo that transforms into cycles of song. It's also a sadomaso-ecological story, a pastoral work for modern times, a drunken dance of desire and destruction. From his studio, Bryan Campbell stalks the woods like a bondage partner. But can a tree consent? Can a body become a tool? The friction of this rough eroticism provokes thought: what if our ecological crisis was the consequence of a failed contract with nature?

What can you do with a body that's slipping away? After XXL, in which she asserted herself as a dancer and celebrated the grace and power of her forms, Kaïsha Essiane continues her investigation by focusing no longer on self-assertion, but on the shadow it casts. A body deprived of momentum and energy, a subject that retracts, an experience of emptiness where the injunctions to productivity seize up. While the song by The Shirelles - mama said there'll be days like this - resonates like a magic formula, a choreography of the kitchen is sketched out, as if to extract the unsuspected strength "from the things in my body” (Les choses de mon corps).

Les pratiques du matin comprendront le contact, le toucher, les yeux fermés, la résistance pour se mettre débout, l’imaginaire pour s’inventer d’autres figures et d’autres hantises de nous-mêmes. Il y sera aussi l’occasion d’écrire des images, de les souffler à l’oreille de quelqu’un·e pour qu’elles s’incarnent, soient chantées, deviennent énigmatiques ou littérales. Ce sera aussi un moment pour se faire des retours, se faire des danses pour nous, pour l’entourage et pour le monde : des danses ouvertes et capables de se laisser transformer par l’agir de l’autre. Ce sera donc un espace pour l'inventivité, la rencontre et l’imagination.

What does it mean to share a rhythm, a step, a touch? In two evenings, one in the form of a participatory ball, the other as a philosophical experiment, the question of community blossoms under the gaze of dance.
This philosophy club will be looking at the relationship between theory and practice. Frédérique Aït-Touati, historian of science and stage director, will talk about her collective work Terra Forma, which features a series of maps as models of the world. She will show us how the map is a tool that can help us to see the world differently. And it can even become a choreographic score! To extend the evening, we'll be offering the public the chance to try out the dances from Le bal de la terre, a creation by Frédérique Ait-Touati and which is where they met.

They operate as a cultural cooperative focusing on ways of working above and beyond making works, developing long term research projects within a contextual perspective. Nyamnyam has fermented into a free-ranging interdisciplinary practice and para-institution that is active across performing and visual arts, social design, community advocacy, curating, experimental pedagogies, and hosting.

For Madeleine Fournier, the polysemy of the verb is a springboard that enables her to leap from peasant culture to academic forms, via the female condition. Branded - the red of shame, emotion, desire and effort - she brings out the expressiveness, even the song, of simple, archetypal gestures.

As an extension of her exploration into lesbian subjectivities in dance and the performing arts, Pauline L. Boulba seeks to make queer practice visible through artistic creation. In this way, she explores the extent to which imagination, somatic practice and fiction act to repair damaged bodies. A two-headed combo of narrative and choreography foster reflection on patriarchal violence. Re-territorialising bodies, to fictionalise life, pumping reality back onto the stage.

J. J. is named after Jill Johnston (1929-2010), dance critic, performer, and uber-determined and angry lesbian feminist. The work is a journey through the real and fictional lives of this very American figure. Through the invention of archives and the use of quotes, voices and drag-kings, the two performers reflect upon lesbian practice in art.
